Geology Students From LTU Visit GLGM

LTU Physical Geology Students Examine Quarrying Techniques & Processing Methods

This past Monday, October 30, Professor Dave Thomas brought 16 students for a tour to examine rocks on a larger scale since most specimens in their school labs are small. They also got to learn how rocks are processed and used commercially.

Each year Lawrence Technological University visits our facility to teach students of the Physical Geology course the ins and outs of quarrying, fabrication as well as physical characteristics of Granite, Marble, Sandstone, Limestone, and Onyx. Students spend 2 hours under Professor Thomas and our own Aaron Barrett‘s guidance learning the basics of stone geology and processing.

We welcome all schools and grades to take a field trip and see and learn things they probably did not know before.
